The GeoInfo series of scientific conferences is an annual forum for exploring ongoing research, development and innovative applications on geographic information science and related areas. Papers should describe original research, ongoing (preferably) or recently completed. Papers will be reviewed by an international scientific committee.
By exposing their results (partial or final) to the Workshop attendance, authors are likely to get back valuable comments and suggestions, find potential users, partners, or collaborators, avoid duplication of efforts, and increase the community's interest for their line of work.
The attendants in turn gain a better view of what is currently happening in the field, and a preview of what could be the hot developments and research topics a few years from now.
The GeoInfo conferences also aim to bring to Brazil leading GIScience and spatial database researchers, to present to the local community a perspective of the state-of-the-art in the area. Past speakers have included Max Egenhofer, Gary Hunter, Andrew Frank, Roger Bivand, Mike Worboys, Werner Kuhn, Stefano Spaccapietra, Ralf Güting, Shashi Shekhar, Christopher Jones, Martin Kulldorff, Dina Goldin and Andrea Rodriguez.
